Where can I download audio books for free?

Hello Everyone,

I just purchased a new mp3 player and I love reading, and using audio books. Does anyone know a program where I can download audio books by popular authors for free? I'd appreciate any help, thank you very much!! :o)Where can I download audio books for free?
utorrent will do what you need -- allow you to download audiobooks and a lot of other things. Do some reading on how torrrents work before trying to use it, though. For particular torrents, try www.mininova.org or www.piratebay.org.

Limewire will too, but it's not as good -- a lot of viruses there, or so I here.

You can also download lots of files via rapidshare and other file sharing sites on the internet. Join www.warez-bb-org to get access to links to particular titles; it's free and easy.

For many file downloads, you'll need to know how to deal with rar files. Download and use winrar to decompress these files.

If the popular authors you have in mind are still alive and working, and even if they have 'only' been deceased about 75 years and no one as literary executor extended copyrights on their work, there is no legal site where you can download books for free.

Illegal sites are often a target for 'bugs' as well as putting up book with pages missing in an effort to avoid prosecution. [ADD: 'limewire' is not a safe or legal site.]

Project Gutenberg is the best way to go for books no longer under copyright; they have tens of thousands, many ready to download for a free audio.

You can also call your local public library, any branch, and ask for titles you are interested in; ask if they have it (or if any branch does; they can get it in quickly for you if so) available for download on your library card. That will cost a bit.

http://www.ebooks.com has many contemporary fiction titles available in ebook form. http://www.audiobooks.com also has a number of titles for download. Ebooks prices are generally low; Audiobooks, new, seem pricey [ADD: but fair for an audio book, which requires a professional reader besides the author's work]. They have some to 'rent' but you need to be a member to see those prices.

http://www.amazon.com also has many titles in audio book form. Look for them under 'Book Format' after entering a type of book; that is in the left column and is a link to a show of books available there. Amazon has generally low prices.Where can I download audio books for free?
If you love reading, you should make a point of supporting your favourite authors by buying their work, not stealing it.

These people are not musicians, they dont make millions everytime they go on tour.

If you love the arts, you need to support it financially.Where can I download audio books for free?
