Does anyone know any free website that will let you listen to audio books?
I would like to listen to the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series by J.R. Ward, the Vampire Kisses books, and The Vampire Diaries Series but I can not find a site that has these books on audio. Can someone please help? The site would have to be free and when I say free I mean free. No hidden fees of any kind. If you could help that would be great.

I enjoy listening to self improvement audio books in my car while I drive. To give you an idea of the type of audio programs I like, my favorites are The Now Habit, the Rich Dad series, a couple from Brian Tracy, Goals (by Zig Ziglar), The Power of Positive Thinking, etc.

I am looking for audio books that are acted out like a story book come to life with background and different voices for the parts. I know that they used to make those when I had my little record player as a child. Why are the audio books I downloaded from iTunes not allowing me to skip through the tracks?
I downloaded an audio book via iTunes for my iPod. When I play it on my iPod, I am able to scroll from track to track no problem, but can't do that on iTunes on my mac. The funny thing is, at the top on the display it does actually say what chapter is currently playing, while not displaying a track list and when I press the track forward button it simply stops.

I'd like a portable player for audio books, any suggestions?
I used to listen to audio books on tape in the car and enjoyed them a lot.
Now I'd like to find a player and a source for audio books that I could carry with me, maybe listen to while at the gym.

I have a nook and love it.
The easiest answer is to join the nook forum at Barnes and Noble. FYI the nook and Sony readers use the epub format (epub format is to ebooks what the mp3 format is to music).

Many libraries also have lending privileges with nearby libraries. For example, I live in a small county outside of Seattle which is in King County. My library card with the small county entitles me to library cards with both King County Library and the Seattle Library even though I don't live, work or go to school in them and all lend ebooks. What one library doesn't have the others have. So check the libraries of nearby counties and cities to see if you can get a card with them too.
You can also get a library card with some library back east for something like $18/year that lends ebooks. You can get more info on that in the Mobile Read forums. Overdrive also lends movies, audio books and music.
The nook does not read books. It will play audio books just like an mp3 player but it drains the battery and it's better to use your mp3 player or phone (which is what I use to play music and books). You can download audio books via your library.

Any sites you use to download audio books for free?

I Tunes usually has samples you can liten too before you buy. If you look up the books on I Tunes you can probably get a minute or so sample of the book.

How can i separate my audio books from music on itunes?

then go to the tabs at the top (in the same box) and select "options" tab
under media kind select "audio book"
and select "remember playback position"
select "do not shuffle"

The book will switch over to the BOOKS tab of your itunes..your ipod itself will recognize it as an audiobook and be listed under audiobooks on your ipod (but it will be mixed in with books on itunes)

I would really like to find a job where I can do the voice over work for audio books or books-on-tape/cd. I have no idea where to go to apply for a job like this. I have gone to the book store, found the name of the publisher, and tried to locate their job section on their web site, but I don't see anything in this area. Does anyone know how to go about applying for a job as a voice over for audio books? Also, where do you go to apply for a job to review and proofread textbooks for schools? I was wondering if that will effect my hearing on the long run.
I set the volume to 3 or 4 out of 22 on my creative Zen, so the volume is very low.
I use regular headphones, not earbuds.Will Audio books affect my hearing on the long run?

No, but hearing it is so impersonal. The special thing about reading it is you develop almost like a bond with the novel. Your mind takes you on the journey, you don't know what comes next but the part of you that's hungry to find out will keep reading. In the midst your thinking process enfolds into so many other things %26amp; your imagination is painting images in your head as you read. It's such a beautiful thing that authors wrote their books with the reader in mind knowing it can be interpreted in so many ways, therefore take the time to appreciate it word for word. Maybe even after you finish listening to it go back and read it see if it has the same impact.Are you mad at me for listening to audio books?

What are some really good German Beginner books, or audio cds?
I'm new with the language, I have been looking for some books even audio books to start out with, would like some suggestions. If you can put down the name, and author that would be great. =)What are some really good German Beginner books, or audio cds?
whats really good is rosetta stone the program. but if its books you want you can try the dummies series. it gives you the basics and foundation of the language. and it also comes with a cd i believe. or you can go on amazon.com and look at some of the textbooks they have on there. well hope this helps you.What are some really good German Beginner books, or audio cds?
A standout for me was the "Everything Learning German Book" by Edward Swick. It lays out everything very clearly to start reading %26amp; writing German. Unless you're very intuitive, to learn to speak and pronounce well you'll do well with help from a computer program. Two of decent quality I'm aware of are 'Rocket' %26amp; 'Rosetta Stone'. I don't know CD sets that well sorry.

I think almost all of the hiring goes through talent agents. You have to have a special voice to do voice overs, and they look for those from radio and entertainment.
I'm not discouraging you from trying, I think it sounds like a great job too.
