Can you download audio books onto an ipod or mp3?

I don't have either and am thinking of getting one. Can you download audio books on either??Can you download audio books onto an ipod or mp3?
Yes.

Apple iTunes store has an audio books section, for ipods.

You can also go to Audible.com to get books, and they support multiple formats, like generic mp3 players or even GPS devices.
Yes, you can definitely download your audio books to an ipod.

In case you want to know how, here's a short video tutorial I found from a blog.

As for the MP3, I don't think all of them are compatible to play audiobooks.

From the same blog, there are posts you might find informative on how and what to look for an MP3 player.
