How can I get free audio books and free ebooks for my nook?

I just got this Nook and I found a few free books at barnes and noble but not much. And it reads audio books and I cant find a free one to even see how it works. Please HELP!!!!How can I get free audio books and free ebooks for my nook?
These will help
I can't recommend any free books specifically for the Nook, but I can recommend many sites for free books for all ereaders.

Start with World Library, then move on to Project Guttenburg. Actually we have listed all these sites and more in a single post.

I have a nook and love it.

The easiest answer is to join the nook forum at Barnes and Noble. FYI the nook and Sony readers use the epub format (epub format is to ebooks what the mp3 format is to music).

You can find books that are free in the US because their copyrights have expired at:

Project Gutenberg at: http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page

Mobile Read Forum Site at: http://www.mobileread.com/

Plus there is a thread for free books and deals on the Mobile Read forum itself.

Barnes and Noble has "free friday" every week with one or two books you can download directly to your nook.

Amazon has free Kindle books. Install Kindle for the PC, download the books to your PC, convert to epub using Calibre (see below) and load to your nook.

The Sony store also has free books but they don't need to be converted.

Many libraries now offer ebooks and your nook can read them. It's why I chose the nook over the Kindle. You can check to see if your library lends ebooks here at: http://search.overdrive.com/

Many libraries also have lending privileges with nearby libraries. For example, I live in a small county outside of Seattle which is in King County. My library card with the small county entitles me to library cards with both King County Library and the Seattle Library even though I don't live, work or go to school in them and all lend ebooks. What one library doesn't have the others have. So check the libraries of nearby counties and cities to see if you can get a card with them too.

You can also get a library card with some library back east for something like $18/year that lends ebooks. You can get more info on that in the Mobile Read forums. Overdrive also lends movies, audio books and music.

The nook does not read books. It will play audio books just like an mp3 player but it drains the battery and it's better to use your mp3 player or phone (which is what I use to play music and books). You can download audio books via your library.

You need to learn how to use Calibre, a free program that stores and organizes your ebook collection. You can get it here: http://calibre-ebook.com/

Um you can teach Calibre to do some neat tricks! How can I get free audio books and free ebooks for my nook?
For older e-books, published before 1923, visit:

http://www.gutenberg.org

http://manybooks.net

http://www.feedbooks.com

http://www.munseys.com

http://www.fullbooks.com

Then do a search for "free e-books" and you will find many more links.

Newer books are under copyright protection, so you will have a much harder time finding free e-book editions. The exception is to visit the website of your local library for legal, newer downloads.
For audio books, you can also try librivox. Otherwise, there are tons of sites for regular ebooks.

if you have a library card you can go to your towns library web site and look in their digital collection. they have tons of ebooks that are compatible with the nook.
